Duck, North Carolina
is located on the north end of the Outer Banks and remained undeveloped until the 1970's. Commercial development has been limited along Highway 12 and the community is a thriving year-round vacation destination. Known for its quaint boutiques, fine dining, and a variety of water sports both on the sound and in the ocean, Duck is rapidly becoming one of the most popular beach destinations in the country. As part of the Outer Banks, the strength of the economy of Duck comes from tourism. Growth in the Outer Banks is steadily driven by the area's ability to attract new residents within its borders - for work, for retirement, and for recreation. The new residents not only bring income to the area, but they create the demand for housing - which brings construction jobs to the region. Some of the state’s most expensive housing is found here. The dwindling availability of undeveloped land, along with the beautiful ocean views, demands premium prices from prospective buyers.
